Project
O2. Career Advice Skills curriculum

Type: LLP-ERASMUS
Parent: Skills Training for Effective Practice (STEP)

Period:
1 Sep 2014 - 31 Aug 2016

This is the first draft of the main learning elements of the curriculum.

It converts the evidence discovered in the previous Review of 'What Works' into skill learning activities and events that will be applied and assessed in the trials that follow.

The curriculum will contain skills and working methods that bring the evidence from O1 Review into a learning setting. It is important to record that it will not replace any existing training or qualifications in Career and Employment Guidance, but will focus on delivering the specific skills that are active and effective when Advisors help clients select occupations, find jobs, compete for and retain work. It will emphasise skills that encourage and empower disadvantaged job seekers and VET leavers, and skills to engage employers actively . Thus it will complement  and add to more general guidance skills courses, and enable those currently working in the field to be more effective in their work. It will be accessible and valuable too for Advisors who lack formal qualification in this area, but whose work includes assisting the transition of disadvantaged people from school or VET into work. The curriculum will include skill and behavioural definitions, learning strategies, teaching materials.

A very small amount of management and administration time is included here, to ensure for the proper direction, co-ordination and quality of the project outputs.
