The functions and content of the website will be extended in readiness for use as a learning tool during stage 2 trials. Feedback and evaluation of the stage 1 trials will be used to design a system that is usable, effective in supporting learning, accessible and adaptable to different learning events and environments. As far as possible open- and free or commonly available software will be used.

The system will be designed for simplicity of use and maintenance in preference to technical sophistication. We wish the system to be usable in situations where the technical environment (broadband speeds, access to software, access to high-power computing, technical support) is rudimentary.
