Project
Green and Sustainable Food Educators

Type: LLP-ERASMUS

Period:
31 Dec 2022 - 31 Dec 2025

Every year, each European consumer throws away 280 kg of food. This result gives the Europeans the second position after North America.

The UN Sustainable Development Goals set a target of reducing global food waste by half at the retail and consumer level by 2030. Everyone has a part to play in meeting these goals, from farmers to households.

Goal 12 of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development aims to ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns. Paragraph 28 of the 2030 Agenda mentions that “We (Countries) commit to making fundamental changes in the way that our societies produce and consume goods and services. Governments, international organizations, the business sector and other non-state actors and individuals must contribute to changing unsustainable consumption and production patterns, including through the mobilization, from all sources, of financial and technical assistance to strengthen developing countries’ scientific, technological and innovative capacities to move towards more sustainable patterns of consumption and production. We encourage the implementation of the 10-Year Framework of Programmes on Sustainable Consumption and Production. All countries take action, with developed countries taking the lead, taking into account the development and capabilities of developing countries”.

The project aims to build up a new generation of professional educators in green and sustainable food topics able to support and educate people to:

  • Become true agents of change in terms of lifestyles, consumption and production
  • Acquire skills and competencies aligned to post - Covid19 labour market needs

Thanks to an international context and background of the different partners of the project, it is possible to increase partners' organizational and staff skills, prepare and equip the professional profile of "European Green and Sustainable Food Educator” recognised under Europass Mobility. The project results are going to be distributed as Open Educational Resources to be used by educators in various contexts and to build up a European network of professional sustainable food educators.
