Project
O4: A complete package for mentors mentoring students on entrepreneurship

Type: LLP-ERASMUS
Parent: E-minds

Period:
15 Feb 2019 - 29 Aug 2019

One of the innovations of this project is that during the next phase of their development Higher Education and VET students will receive mentoring services from two mentors: one from the academia and one from the industry in the case of the higher education students and one from the VET training centre and one from the industry in the case of VET students. The role of the mentors will be to guide the students during the implementation of the activities that will lead to the completion of the EntreChallenges (IO5)

This intellectual output is a complete package for mentors that includes:
1. A curriculum for a webinar
2. A mentor's guide
3. The webinar itself (that although in the pilot of the webinar this will be implemented synchronously, it will also be available asychronously  through the website of the project for other mentors to be trained in the future).

The objective of this webinar will be:
1. To serve as an icebreaker between academia,  VET trainers and people from the industry so that they can continue together the process of mentoring.
2. To provide the main principles of mentoring both to academics, VET trainers and people from the industry.
3. To explore cooperation techniques between different types of mentors (from academica, VET and industry)
4. To sensitize academia,  VET trainers and people from the industry on the important role each has to play in the process of mentoring.
5. To develop trusting relationships between academia, trainers and people from the industry  and to clarify their roles.

In total four teams of higher education students and 1 team of vet students will be formed. The teams of higher education students will be mentored by academia and industry  (four and four). More specifically:
Team 1 will be mentor by 1 academic from Frederick and 1 person from the industry identified by Frederick
Team 2 will be mentored by 1 academic from NOVA GORICA and 1 person from the industry identified by NOVA GORICA
Team 3 e mentored by 1 academic from METROPOLIA A and 1 person from the industry identified by METROPOLIA
Team 4 will be mentored by 1 academic from JOANNEUM and 1 person from the industry identified by JOANNEUM
Team 5 will be mentored by 1 VET trainer from MMC and  1 person from the industry identified by MMC [ DIMITRA and MMC students will together form one team]

In total we will have 12 mentors (10 from the industry, 4 from higher education institutions and 1from VET institutions)

The webinar will be designed and delivered by DIMITRA and all participants will be online at the same time (synchronous learning).  The webinar will have a duration of 6 hours (probably two three hours session)

Training techniques to be used are:
- lecture
- brainstorming
- group discussion etc

Before the webinar a detailed mentors' guide will be developed by MMC and disseminated to the webinar participants. The mentor's guide will be a very practical guide for mentors mentoring higher education students and VET students. The mentor's guide will focus on sections such as challenging students, providing positive and negative feedback. The guide will also focus on how to improve cooperation between mentors coming from academia or from VET and mentors coning from the industry.
