O3: Training Materials for the Action Learning Sets

The 1st stage of development of entrepreneurial mindsets for our  students is Action Learning Sets. This intellectual output is in fact a set of materials to be used in action learning set mode.

The materials will consist of exercises, case studies & projects or even group discussions in some cases that will aim to develop the specific competencies identified in ENTRECOMP as validated and improved in IO1 and based on the learning outcomes identified in IO1 [ the competences of EntreComp are briefly described in IO1]  

An important characteristic of some of  these materials is that they will not necessarily have one single answer as our objective is to develop the critical thinking of students & their ability to see different perspectives & alternatives & to be able to select the most appropriate one.

Each piece of material will be independent. Different students will have the responsibility for these materials,  they will work on them & then come back to the action learning set for ideas, reflection & team learning.

An example on such a case study would be the following (just to give the feeling of the materials used). An old building is protected as national heritage. In its yard  there is an old lake with rare types of fish. The last 3 days it seems that something is wrong with the fish   Expert came and informed us that there is a problem in the pipes. There are some constrains in this case such as where to put the water, what resources we have available, how many days we need to get permission from the authorities to do anything in the building, how many days fish can live outside the lake etc. In this case students must develop different solutions and select the best one taking into consideration the constraints.  Such an exercise would probably develop the competence 3.3 Coping with uncertainty, ambiguity and risk (Make decisions dealing with uncertainty, ambiguity and risk)

Other complex issues would include innovative ways of dealing with the integration of migrants, the development of an innovative IT system to solve an issue etc.

Materials will include:
-at least 15 different exercises , case studies, projects EQF Level 6 aiming at the development of the competencies identified in ENTRECOMP for higher education students
-at least 15 different exercises, case studies, projects on EQF level 5 aiming at the development of competencies identified in ENTRECOMP for VET students.
- An action learning set log book will be provided to the students where they will record experiences, thoughts and shared learning (reflection).
