O3. Trainer’s Methodological Guide and a Trainer’s Toolkit for KC6-Social and Civic competences and KC8-Cultural Awareness and Expression

Type: LLP-ERASMUS
Parent: Cultural Awareness and Social Skills Key Competences in Tourism

Period:
1 Sep 2015 - 30 Mar 2017

The objective of the Methodological guide is to help the trainers to use effectively the developed training curriculum on KCs 6 and 8. It will be developed as a separate guide and will be enriched with a pool of methodological tools, such as theoretical material, contents and methodology approaches for the trainers to use. Furthermore, the methodological guide will be a collection of tools, syllabuses and approaches that each trainer and organization will be able to adapt and use according to the learners group' needs and the training aims. It includes the trainer’s methodology, i.e. the analyzed chapter introduced in the developed curriculum and describes the training techniques, tools and equipment used in each chapter.

Specifically, the trainer’s methodological guide on implementing CS.Tour curriculum on KCs 6 and 8 for people involved in the tourism and hospitality sector will be a practical guide for the trainers in order for them to be able to successfully deliver the pilot sessions. The methodological guide will adopt a 'workshop methodology' where the trainer provides the main theoretical background through lectures and other approaches are adopted to facilitate the learning such as discussion, group exercises, video case studies and analysis, experiential exercises etc. The main objective of the methodology that will be developed will be to achieve the required results while at the same time to make learning an enjoyable experience.

The Trainer’s methodological guide will be used in parallel with the trainer’s toolkit. The goal of the trainer’s toolkit is to supplement the developed curriculum on KCs 6 and 8 and guide them in covering all necessary information for a person involved in the tourism and hospitality industry. The leading partner of this output will develop supporting material relating to individuals, groups, work organizations, taking practical considerations and pitfalls for people involved in tourism and hospitality. It will also be enriched with real world scenarios and cases of start-up companies in the tourism sector. Keep noted that tools alone have no influence. They need to be adapted to the target group’s objectives, most importantly to their skills to turn them into successful entrepreneurs. The trainer’s toolkit will be a tool to transfer educational objectives into practice and will include tips for transferability to different situations and contexts. The materials will include tools such as Group Exercises, Role Playing, Simulation, Videos etc aiming at training the awareness of own relevant skills and experiences as well as identifying individual development areas in the field of social and civic competences.

The trainer’s methodological guide and the trainer’s toolkit will be translated in each partner’s national language and tested and evaluated during the national training of trainers’ workshops for 10-15 participants in each territory. The trainers who will run the “national training of trainers’ workshops” will be trained in a transnational learning activity in Cyprus (2 trainers per partner country – see the transnational learning, teaching, training activity described in G.3). During the training of trainers’ workshops the trainer’s methodological guide and toolkit will be adjusted through qualitative feedback from trainers that focus on the details of content and performance in order to gather evidence in relation to the development and usability of the guide and the toolkit. All trainers that will perform the activities in each country will assess whether it has been useful in achieving the objectives of the training and the desired learning outcomes that should be reached by the participants. The trainers who participated in the National Training of Trainers workshops will run a pilot training of trainers in each participating country.

After the evaluation that will take place in each partner country, an overall recommendation report will be made for the trainer’s methodological guide and toolkit, which will include the assessment, modifications, adaptations on the material plus proposals for mainstreaming and exploitation of results among the community of trainers in the tourism sector. The goal of the overall report is to gather and compare the national improvement suggestions.

The trainer’s methodological guide and the trainer’s toolkit will be finalised after the recommendations made in national level where the proposals, good and/or bad points will be incorporated in the final trainer’s methodological guide and trainer’s toolkit. The developed materials will be disseminated to trainees and trainers through a multimedia training tool during the Final conference and will be published on the developed e-platform.
