Project: Skills for Wellness

Skills for Wellness project aims at designing transnational sector-wide occupational standards for these professions and developing and assessing competences of employees. To manage this, it is necessary to cooperate with experienced partners to translate a sectoral growth strategy into an approach that adequately addresses skills needs. This project consists of VET providers, including further education and sector representatives from Finland, Germany, Italy, Spain and Cyprus working together to share experiences and identify occupational profile standards (in line with ECVET, EQF) to respond to sector’s needs.

Since September 2019, all the Skills for Wellness project partners from several European countries (Italy, Germany, Finland, Spain and Cyprus) have been interviewing representatives of tourism/wellness associations, VET providers, companies, entities offering wellness services in wellness sector, employees in wellness sector so they can identify occupational standards. The aim of the interview was to collect data about the correspondence between existing skills/competences and current trends in the wellness sector, existing challenges and the needs of employees, employers and VET teachers. Special focus during the interviews has been made on the analysis of the needed transversal skills, such as communication, ICT, green skills and others.

Next step in the project is to develop training resources based on the occupational standards and described learning outcomes with units covering professional and transversal skills. Due to diversity of the vocational educational paths for the wellness sector in partner countries, the partners will focus on some models of work-based learning which are easier to be implemented in various vocational settings (e.g. demonstrations, job shadowing, rotations, mentorship, service learning).

On 17-18 September 2020 the project Second Transnational Meeting will take place at the project’s partner headquarters, Civiform società cooperative sociale in Cividale del Friuli, Italy.
